Weekly Class Time: Saturdays June 8, 15, 29, July 13, 20, and August 3, 10, 17 from 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM
Cost: $12 per class for one participant when paying with credit card; $10 per class for one participant when paying with cash. To pay with credit card, please purchase tickets below. To pay with cash, please arrive to your desired class a few minutes early to pay.

Class Description: These students discover dance as a means of self- expression, exploration, and community connection through creative experiences. Based in modern dance technique and improvisation, this class welcomes beginners of all ages and advanced students who are looking to rejuvenate their creative practices. Families are encouraged to take this class together. For ages 6-99 and baby-wearing caregivers.

Dress Code: Anything you can move in.  Leggings, sweat pants, t-shirts, and yoga tops are all great options.  We dance barefoot.

Location: Our new home for all of our classes is at the River Oaks School of Dancing in the Shepherd Square Shopping Center at the corner of Shepherd and Westheimer.

Semester Cost: $400 per semester, $510 per semester when taken with Junior Framers Dance Class or Yoga, $720 when taken with Junior Framers Dance Class and Yoga. (cost will include weekly classes and monthly workshops)

Class Description: Ballet for Junior Framers can be taken alone and is a recommended complement to the Junior Framers Ensemble. Ballet at Frame Dance is pro-body and taught from a healthy, anatomical perspective. Students will learn the foundation of ballet, terminology, body placement, and musicality. The technical basis of ballet begins at the barre where students will learn placement of their feet, bodies, and arms. The class progresses to the center with combinations to develop balance and coordination.

Dress Code: Leggings and a form-fitted top or leotard and black tights.  Boys: form fitted t-shirt or tank top and cotton or stretchy pants/shorts. This class is taken with soft ballet slippers and in bare feet.  Hair must be pulled back, no loose jewelry.

Class Description: Junior Framers (part of the Frame Dance Youth Ensemble) is built on a cohesive education of modern dance and ballet techniques, rehearsal, and performance.  Junior Framers hone their technique while continuing to grow creatively, collaborate with others, and learn choreography for performance.  Though this class focuses more intensely on technique, these students are encouraged to develop creatively, finding and articulating their own artistic voices.

*Please note that ensemble classes are capped at 6 participants to ensure that students receive individual instruction.

Dress Code: Leggings and a form-fitted top or leotard and black tights.  Boys: form fitted t-shirt or tank top and cotton or stretchy pants/shorts. This class is taken with soft ballet slippers and in bare feet.  Hair must be pulled back, no loose jewelry.

The Frame Dance Youth Ensemble provides students from 3.5 to 13 years old the opportunity to experience dance in a context that values the individual and the creative process. The program is dedicated to high-quality technical training within a non-competitive environment and offers access to masterclasses in costume design, photography, repertoire, anatomy, dance history, and yoga for the older students, by leading professionals. Our curriculum caters to each student’s strengths and is designed to encourage creative expression and a positive body image. The program exposes and connects students to Frame Dance’s professional company and the Multigenerational Framers, our community ensembleWe are a nurturing, adventurous, and dynamic setting for students who seek either sheer enjoyment or the more serious pursuit of becoming an advanced artist.  

Please note that Frame Dance classes will not be in session during the week of Thanksgiving or the week of Houston ISD’s spring break. Frame Dance will also observe all weather related closings posted by Houston ISD.

Mini Framers

AGES 3.5-5

Weekly Class Time: Wednesdays 3:30-4:10 PM

Fall Semester: September 4, 2019 – November 20, 2019.

Class Description: This may be your child’s first “big kid” dance class without a parent, and also serves as precursor to our Youth Ensemble. This fun class focuses on motor skill development, creativity, musicality, independence, and coordination. Through dance and the use of props, dancers will explore space through movement, and experience new independence and creative choices.

Little Framers hone their technique while continuing to grow creatively, collaborate with others, and learn choreography for performance.  Though this class focuses more intensely on technique, we encourage our students to develop creatively, and help them find and articulate their own artistic voices.

Dress Code: Leggings and a form-fitted top or leotard and black tights.  Boys: form fitted t-shirt or tank top and cotton or stretchy pants/shorts. This class is taken with soft ballet slippers and in bare feet.  Hair must be pulled back, no loose jewelry.

Class Description: Yoga for Junior Framers can be taken on its own and is a recommended complement to the Junior Framers Ensemble Program. Yoga teaches tweens the tools and techniques to use throughout their lives to maintain flexibility, strength, balance, mindfulness, and confidence. Yoga teaches us to breathe and manage our stress more effectively. These are all effective ways to train our dancing bodies in and out of the studio.

Dress Code: Leggings and a form-fitted top or leotard and black tights.  Boys: form fitted t-shirt or tank top and cotton or stretchy pants/shorts. This class is taken in bare feet. Hair must be pulled back, no loose jewelry.

Class Description: Parent and child will bond in this fun class that focuses on motor skill development, creativity, musicality, and coordination. Through dance and the use of props, toddlers and young children will explore space through movement, and begin to learn to take direction from a teacher (other than a parent). Benefits include:

  • better listening skills
