JULY 10 AT 6 PM
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
McGovern Centennial Gardens
1500 Hermann Dr, Houston, TX 77004
Guided by founder and artistic director Lydia Hance, Frame Dance Productions has been dedicated to the act of creating dance in Houston for the past 11 years. To commemorate a decade (+1!) of acclaimed work, as Nancy Wozny describes in Dance Magazine, “Lydia Hance, the city’s reigning guru of dance in public places, plans a celebration of her organization Frame Dance in the roomy McGovern Gardens.” Originally scheduled in 2020 to celebrate a decade of Frame Dance Productions since its founding in 2010, this event — postponed by the pandemic — re-emerges now to recognize 10+1 years of the company and the return to public dance performance. The event will be mobile, so we encourage comfortable shoes. The event is held from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm, while the gardens open to the general public.
Performers and Collaborators include: Alli Villines, Patrick Moore, Kirk Suddreath, Ashley Horn, Jacquelyne Jay Boe, Lindsay Cortner, Rachael Hutto, Emily Roy, Jamie Williams, MultiGen Framers Ensemble, several Frame Dance students from the children’s program.
Speak Softly Like Flowers is generously underwritten by Kay and Andrew McStay, Mark and Tamara Polhemus, and Bracewell LLP.
The event is sponsored by Taste of Texas, British Isles, and Jonathon & Lydia Hance. Frame Dance is supported in part by the Houston Arts Alliance and the City of Houston, and Dance Source Houston.
