What is Soirée?

Soirée is our annual fundraiser, usually held in June and consisting of a brief performance by the professional company, bites and drinks, a film of the past year’s accomplishments, a speech from Lydia, and a silent auction.

This year, Soirée is also a celebration of Frame Dance Productions’ 11th anniversary as a professional company. The event at the Centennial Gardens was planned to be held last year and celebrate a decade of Frame Dance, but here we are with an extra year of dance to be proud of!

Where is Soirée?

McGovern Centennial Gardens at Hermann Park

1500 Hermann Dr, Houston, TX 77004

How do I get into the gardens?

Garden hours are 9 am to 7 pm.

There are three entrances:

Cherie Flores Pavillion – facing parking lot, Herman Dr at Crawford St

Hermann Dr at Caroline St – across Caroline from cute brick building beside HMNS garage

Hermann Park Dr at Caroline St – facing Miller Outdoor Theater hill, across from HMNS planetarium entrance

Where do I park?

There is a free 3 hr parking lot adjacent to gardens on Hermann Drive with entrances at Crawford St and Jackson St. This is the most convenient parking, but there are other free lots at Hermann Park as well as free and metered street parking.

When is Soirée?

What time do I perform?

Children’s classes perform from 6:30-7:00 pm on June 3.

Adult classes perform from 6:30-7:30 pm on June 3.

Call time is 5:30 pm for adults and children.

When is rehearsal?

Wednesday, June 2

Children’s Classes: Call Time 4:15, Rehearsal 4:30-5:30 pm

Adult Classes: Call Time 4:30, Rehearsal 5:00-7:00 pm

What is call time?

Call time is the time that performers need to be “on stage,” ready to rehearse or perform. For performances and dress rehearsals, performers need to be in costume at call time.

How Do We Soirée?

What do I wear to perform?

Children’s classes wear a white sundress that is easy to move in (contact your instructor or kerri.lyons.neimeyer@framedance.org for examples) and a pair of whiteKeds-like sneakers.

Adults wear costumes developed by Ashley Horn. Dancers need to provide Ashley with a plain white shirt to be decorated, and with the dancer’s waist and inseam measurements by MONDAY, MAY 17 (you can bring your shirt to class and we will get it to Ashley. We’ll also have a tape measure available for measurements at class this weekend).

How do friends and family attend?

The park is open to the public until 7 pm. This will give families a chance to see children perform until guards clear the area and close the gates. Of course, we think your guests will have more fun if they buy a ticket and plan to attend the entire evening! Reduced ticket prices are available for ages 12 and under.

Tickets can be purchased here: https://secure.givelively.org/event/frame-dance-productions/soiree-2020/speak-softly-like-flowers

What else do I need to know?

That you are fabulous for sharing your art. That making art and making it available to others is what makes life more than subsistence. You are elevating the experience of being a person here and now for all of the people who experience this performance. Good work. Thank you.
