I know…I know…

It has been long.  I think I’m still post-residency sifting and, perhaps, ignoring.  Needed a little break this 4th of July to not create and not even think about creating.  But I did.  I painted.  It is a series of 4 canvases, and I have finished one.  Two others have been started and one hasn’t been touched–the largest one.  But because they are…let’s say…an installation on site, I won’t be able to finish them for a number of months.  It is an exploration on color and texture and I’m crossing my fingers that I will be able to mix the paint to achieve those same colors as I did this weekend.  I just got back from a 4 day-ish trip to San Francisco.  Always wonderful there.  A bit cold, and every time I go back that Mark Twain quote, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco” echoes through my mind.  The first thing I notice when I arrive in SF is how crisp it is.  It must be the ocean.

I had one of my favorite meals there, Dim Sum. (See below.)  What a treat.  The Chinese and Japanese food in SF is just so, so good.

I also went to my new favorite store.  FAVORITE store.  Flax.  It’s kind of like heaven.  It’s not a health store–although I can see how you might think that.  It’s the most extensive, beautiful art store I’ve ever imagined.  There are ROOMS of just paper.  The most beautiful paper I’ve ever seen.  I bought some and will be creating something with it soon.  That’s where the canvases, paints, and brushes came from too.  I need to go back.  And if you go to the Bay Area…GO.

Huh…I need to learn how to take a creative break.  Help!
